Event Details

Make your festive table pop! Crackers look like jumbo wrapped hard candy, but are a part of every holiday dinner in the UK and Commonwealth countries (and in Sweden for St. Knut’s Day.) Diners work together to pull apart these fun party favors with a little snap, revealing a toy, decoration, or a prize, and a paper crown. Make these at home with Claire (via on-demand video), and learn a bit of the history behind how these lively little parcels from Victorian times became a British cultural staple. Offered as a take-and-make craft with supplies, instructions, and pre-recorded talk.  The majority of necessary items are provided though participants will need to provide their own ruler, scissors, & pencil/pen.  Video will be available to view from Monday, December 9 through Monday, January 6.

Each craft bag contains supplies to create two crackers.  There is a limit of two bags (4 crackers) requested for each household. Please contact Janet at dicastroj@flossmoorlibrary.org (Subject: Holiday Craft) to register for a bag and include the number of bags you are requesting. You will be contacted with information regarding picking up your craft bag as well as a link to the on-demand video.

Registration is required and limited.  Registration begins Monday, December 2 at 9:30am and lasts until supplies are gone. Any bags not picked up by Monday, December 16 will be available on a first come, first serve basis at the Patron Services Desk of the library.
